Patricia Marie Gibbons, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 20th at Ellis Hospital in the presence of her son, Michael Gibbons. She was predeceased by her parents, Leslie Hunt Fisk and Rose Lusk Fisk, and her husband, Joseph Butler Gibbons, who was with the General Electric Co. She is survived by her son, Michael Gibbons and his partner, Barbara Kloczkowski; her brother, Donald Fisk (Ellie); the families of Donald and John Gibbons; and dear friends, Rose Di Cerbo, Joan W. Peak, Patricia Leary and Joan Shack. Pat grew up in Newark, New York, and was a graduate of Albany State Teachers College and the Syracuse University School of Social Work. Pat was a career employee with the Schenectady County Department of Social Services, where she held a variety of positions including supervisor of child protective services. Over the years Pat volunteered her services to many organizations, including Recording for the Blind, Zonta and the regional food pantry. She also served on the board of directors of Project Safe. Pat had an enduring spiritual interest in meditation and the Vedanta philosophy. She made many trips to India and around the world to attend yoga meetings and conferences with her meditation teacher, the late Swami Chidananda of the Divine Life Society (DLS) of Rishekesh India. She was also a charter member of the Sri Sarada Society - a Vedanta philosophical organization in Albany, NY. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at noon from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Daly Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to noon.
