Obituary of Patricia Mackenzie

MacKENZIE, Patricia Pat MacKenzie passed away peacefully in her 86th year at Marion Hospice, Vancouver, on February 18. Pat was born and raised in Kingston and had an early career at Dupont Industries before marrying in 1947. She was predeceased by her seven siblings, her dear husband (Alec), son (Tom) and son-in-law (Tim). Her daughters (Elizabeth and Ann), in-laws (Rob and Ann) and grandchildren (Kate, Rob (Anita), Sara, Elisa, Alexandra, Patrick, Georgia, Matthew and Braydon) will miss her laughter, tea parties, card games and knitting lessons. In true "Grams" style, she delighted in the modern day antics of them all. Pat was a devoted Catholic, guided to the end by her faith. She was a fun loving and loyal friend who enjoyed golf, bridge, and quilting. In transition, she won her golf club championship in August, danced at her grandson's wedding in September and recently hosted her friends at bridge in the hospice. Funeral mass will be held at 10am on Wednesday, February 23 at St-Marks Chapel, UBC (5935, Iona Drive) - on site parking limited ( www.parking.ubc.ca ). A Celebration will be hosted by the family, Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 at Elizabeth's house. Profound thanks to the medical staff (VGH, UBC, Marion Hospice). Donations may be sent to BC Cancer Foundation for the Lymphoma Outcomes Unit, c/ Dr. Joseph Connors, 600 W Broadway, Vancouver V5Z 4E6.
