PATRICIA M. WILSON "PAT" WHITING/HAMMOND, IN Patricia M. "Pat" Wilson, 74, from Whiting and Hammond, recently of Jasper, IN, passed away on the afternoon of Thursday, September 19, 2013 following a short illness. Ms. Wilson was born in Hammond on September 28, 1938 to Helen A. (Schultze) and Lloyd H. Sturgeon, and grew up on Central Ave. in Whiting and Lincoln Ave. in Robertsdale. She married Donald T. Wilson in 1959 and later resided in South Hammond . In addition to her parents, her brother Frank of Michigan, husband Donald, son Michael, and most recently brother-in-law Ronald Fink, all of Hammond, preceded her in death. Patricia is survived by her sister Carol Fink of Robertsdale; son Mark; daughter-in-law Stacy (Graan); and grandsons Ian, Aaron and Collin Wilson, all of rural Dubois County, IN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Patricia attended Sacred Heart Grade School in Whiting, graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in Hammond in 1956, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University Calumet in 1997. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Whiting, and later St. Joseph's in Hammond. Patricia was a Very Special Arts volunteer and a member of writing clubs, the Indiana Historical Society, and the Smithsonian Institution. She was a writer, a lifelong voracious reader, and ever a supporter of women's issues, literacy and education. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at OWENS-RUZICH FUNERAL HOME, 816 - 119th St., corner of (Rt. 41) Calumet Ave. at 119th St., Whiting, IN. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at OWENS-RUZICH FUNERAL HOME. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Portage, IN.
