Obituary of Patricia Jones


JONES--Patricia Bleecker died October 27. Mrs. Jones was born in New York City August 29, 1930 to Ruth Hall and Benjamin DeWitt Bleecker. Married for 38 years to the late Edward Sprague Jones, she is survived by three children, Susanna Jones, Abigail Jones Feder, and Thomas Jones; sons-in-law, Robert Beguelin and Andrew Feder; daughter-in-law, Soraya Chemaly; and six grandchildren, Andries and Catalina Feder; Aaron Beguelin; and Isabelle, Caroline, and Noel Jones. At her death, she was the Senior Warden at Christ Church in Oyster Bay, NY. From 1988 to 1991, she served as President General of The Colonial Dames of America where she led the effort to transform the Society's New York museum into the period appropriate Mount Vernon Hotel; she remained active in the Society until her death. For decades, she led her Abbot Academy Class of 1949 as president and class agent. A talented development professional, she worked at General Theological Seminary and also volunteered, most recently on the Campaign Steering Committee, at East Woods School in Oyster Bay, NY. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Friday, October 30 at Christ Church in Oyster Bay, NY. Donations, in lieu of flowers, to the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum, 421 East 61st Street, New York, NY 10065.
