HENDERSON Patricia Isobelle Bliss (nee? Roberts) Passed away peacefully on April 29, 2009 at the age of 100 in Richmond, BC. Predeceased by her husband Leo and their only daughter Patricia Hope, she is lovingly survived by her half sisters Thaia Bliss and Mary Carman as well as her granddaughters Michele Marie and Lila Carmen. Pat was the daughter of well know writer, Lloyd Roberts and granddaughter of celebrated Canadian author, Sir Charles G.D. Roberts. She grew up with a fondness for the arts. She was a philanthropist who deeply cared for many and had many friends. A faithful member of the Catholic Church, Pat served as parish Secretary at St. Joseph the Worker for a time and participated as a Lector at church services for over 16 years. Pat was one of the first women to be mandated as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion. She was a founding member of the Catholic Charismatic Movement and also founded and became director of the Richmond Right to Life Society. Well known for her selfless service to others, she was always ready to listen and offer prayer. Pat will be deeply missed by many. An evening of prayer to celebrate Pat's life will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church on Monday, May 4 at 7:00 pm. Pat's funeral service will be held on at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church at 4451 Williams Road, Richmond, BC on May 5, 2009 at 10:30 am. Interment of the cremated remains will be held at the Gardens of Gethsemani at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant House ( www.covenanthousebc.org/ ) of which Pat was a long time supporter.
