-> Darien - Patricia Evans "Pat" Pitts, 73, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at her residence. She was a native of Brunswick, Georgia and had been a resident of McIntosh County for 42 years. She was a graduate of Women's College of Georgia in Milledgeville and was a retired school teacher having taught in Glynn and McIntosh Counties over 32 years. She was active with the McIntosh County Board of Elections as a Poll Manager and was a member of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church of Darien. She enjoyed raising children and pets. She was predeceased by her husband, J. George Pitts and a son, W. J. "Billy" Pitts. Mrs. Pitts is survived by three daughters, Nancy Jane Pitts Mikowski of Tampa, Fla, Marijo Pitts Sheffield (Chuck) of Shell Point Community, and Tricia Deal of Darien; a son, Jimmy Pitts (Lou) of Brunswick; a sister, V. Annette Evans of Brunswick; three sisters-in-law, Alberta Bluestein, and Suge Cannon, both of Darien, and Buena Pitts of St. Simons Island; five grandchildren, Christopher Merrick Mikowski of Tampa, Lauren Pitts of Athens, Ansley Pitts of Brunswick; Megan Deal and Elizabeth Deal, both of Darien. Visitation will be held 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m., at Edo Miller & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11 a. m., Friday in Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Father Cletus Pifher officiating. Interment: Palmetto Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mike Alford, Bill Alford, Keith Pitts, Ken Johnson, Dan Hawthorne, and Phil Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Snow, Dr. Antonio Moran and Staff, Oncology Unit of Southeast Georgia Medical System, Brunswick Campus, Staff of Hospice of the Golden Isles, Dr. Timothy Jameson, Joann Johnson, Yvonne Holmes, Evella Brown, Neta Grinstead, Helen Cope, Mary Moody, W. T. Pitts, III, and Richard Berry. The family suggest those wishing make memorial contributions to the Bui lding Fund of Nativity of Our Lady or Hospice of the Golden Isles.
