Patricia Clarice Smith, 70, of Tellico Village, Tenn., died Wednesday, Sept., 10, 2014, at Park West Hospital, ending a two-year battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 12, 1943, in Memphis, Tenn., to parents Harley and Patricia Hyatt, but was raised in Pontiac and Waterford, Mich. After marriage she moved to Bloomfield Hills, Mich. She served as a secretary in the Pontiac School System for more than 20 years. Later, in Hopkinton, she was able to pursue her love of tennis and golf while volunteering her time reading to children before moving to Tellico Village in 2006. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Jim Smith; and sons, Stephen Smith of Marietta, Ga., with wife, Diane, and David Smith of Ypsilanti, Mich., with wife, Amy, along with grandchildren Emma and Lucas Smith. She was preceded in death by sisters, Norma Sines, Betty Brown and Susie Morehead.Those who were lucky enough to know her will always think of her as the essence of love and laughter.
