Obituary of Patricia-Anne Jones

JONES, Patricia Anne (nee Boake) - Died peacefully on June 23, 2014 at the Elm Grove Living Centre. Though in failing health this past year, the last few weeks were happy ones filled with sunshine and the scent of lilacs in the garden. Born to Edward and Helena Boake (nee Loewen), Pat grew up as one of 11 children on the Downsview Farm near Acme, Alberta. As a young wife and mother, she took her pride in rural life to Dufferin County in Ontario, where she raised thoroughbreds (and 3 children) on Dalcenna Farm. Originally an "Alberta rose", she had a deep love for the rolling hills of Mono, the Headwaters' rivers and the back woods of the Escarpment - her home at heart. In addition to the farm, Pat was a nurse in Orangeville an d Shelburne, where she formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Always involved in the community, Pat was a school board trustee when the one-room schools that dotted Dufferin County were closed and the Mono Amaranth Public School was built. She was also a longtime member of the Orangeville Agricultural Society, a local volunteer and a supporter of local arts programs. Pat is remembered by her 3 children, 4 grandchildren and a large extended family that will miss her very much. As was her wish, there will be no formal memorial service. Donations in lieu can be made to the Dufferin County Museum & Archives (936029 Airport Road, Mulmur, Ontario L9V 0L3).
