She was known for her remarkable energy, which emanated through the activities in which she was involved, the way in which she approached and viewed life, and all those whose lives she touched. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a devoted teacher, and, after she retired, as a passionate and accomplished duplicate bridge player. While her children were young, she and her family resided in Dublin and Peterborough, New Hampshire for 8 years. After that they lived in Groton, Massachusetts for 22 years. There her husband Ruel, an elementary school principal, became involved in the standardbred horse racing business. As a true partner, Patty devoted some of her time to the care and training of racehorses, a dedication that lasted over a 40 year span.In their retirement, after many years of educating young people, she and Ruel became "snowbirds" for 19 years, spending winter months in Pompano Beach, Florida, and summers lakeside in northern Vermont.
