TURNER, PHYLLIS ANN, 75, of Mount Dora died Thursday, May 4, 2006. Phyllis was born to the late J.M. and Lena Turner on January 18, 1931 in Mount Dora. She graduated from Mount Dora High School in 1948. Phyllis attended Florida State University and graduated from Florida Southern College, Lakeland, in 1952 where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority; a cheerleader; and on the water ski team. After graduation, she skied at Cypress Gardens and while there, was in the movie "Easy to Love," starring Esther Williams. She joined National Airlines in 1953 as a stewardess and was based in Jacksonville. Later, she became a stewardess supervisor. After the merger with Pan Am, she flew for them out of Miami until retiring in 1982. One of the things she enjoyed the most was attending the monthly get- togethers of the Buccaneers (National Airlines Retirees). Phyllis is survived by her brother, Robert E. Turner (Carolyn); two nephews, Kenneth (Kathy) of Caracas, Venezuela, and Mark (Margaret) of Denver, CO; and five nieces. Phyllis was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora for 62 years and a past president of Hannah Circle. Visitation will be held from 3-5PM, Sunday, May 7th at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home, Mount Dora Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11AM, Monday, May 8th at the First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora with Pastor Gary Upleger officiating.
