PENNY RODGERS SMITHPenny Rodgers Smith was born May 18, 1965 in Tampa, Florida, the third child of Marie Rodgers. She at-tended Carrie Gosch Elem. School and graduated from East Chicago Roosevelt. July 18, 1987, she mar-ried the love of her life Johnny Smith. She traveled the United States with her husband who serves with the United States Air Force. Penny was a beautiful spirit who the Lord wanted with Him. She de-parted this life on Sunday, June 1 2003, in St. Louis, MO. She leaves to mourn, her devoted husband Tech. Sgt. Smith of Scott Air Force Base, Ill.; her mother, Marie Rodgers, and grandmother, Maebell Smith, both of East Chicago, IN.; Sisters, Rita Rodgers, Hammond, IN., and Wanda Rodgers, Atlanta, GA; Brother, AL BittaMan Rodgers, East Chicago, IN.; Aunt, Cherrie Scott, Minn, MN; Father-and-Mother-In-Love John L. and Shirley Smith, Gary, IN. and many family and friends throughout the world.Visitation will be at 10 a.m., Satur-day, June 7, 2003 at Friendship Mis-sionary Baptist Church, 4756 Mel-ville Ave., East Chicago, IN. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rodney Golson, Sr., offici-ating.Interment will be in Fern Oaks Ce-metery Griffith. Hinton & Williams Funeral Home in charge of ar-rangements.
