Pauline Curtis Clark, 88, a resident of Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Kingston, passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Roane Medical Center.She was preceded in death by parents, Andy and Bessie Curtis; husband, James "Buster" Clark; infant daughter, Kimberly Kay; daughter, Roseanna Clark; sisters, Irine Garrett and Ruth Boles; and brother, Oscar Curtis.She is survived by daughter, Mona Colvin, Maryville; daughter, Regina Hall and husband Darrell, Kingston; and daughter, Karen, Harriman Care and Rehab.Pauline was a "homebody" who dedicated her life to caring for special-needs daughter, Karen. Always together, Karen became her roommate at Harriman Care and Rehab. Pauline loved to read newspapers, magazines and her beloved seasonal "Ideals" books. She often cut out comic strips, sports articles about her favorite baseball pitcher, Mike Scott. Atlanta Braves and NASCAR's Jeff Gordon were the articles for daughter Mona and son-in-law Doug."Our mother loved to correspond with people whose articles she read, or sometimes with those who were mentioned," her daughers said. "She had longtime friends or ‘pen pals' through the years. She loved to have a daughter, ‘get me a real pretty card' to send for thanks, sympathy or congratulations. She always included her handwritten notes."Pauline, before her stroke, had beautiful cursive writing that she always used, even on grocery lists. The envelopes she addressed we will always remember because they will, of course, have ‘pretty' stamps, too."Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Roane Memorial Gardens, with Robert Weatherford officiating.Davis Funeral Home, Harriman, is in charge of arrangements.Condolences may be sent to the family at www.davisfuneralhomes.com.
