Illinois Central RailroadLAKELAND -- Mr. Oscar D. McDonald of Lakeland died of complications following a stroke Monday (May 24, 2004) at home. He was 71.Born in Bassfield, Miss., on Aug. 31, 1932, he came to Lakeland from Braxton, Miss., in 2000. He worked for Illinois Central Railroad. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8002.Mr. McDonald is survived by his daughters, Cindy Krupa, Frankfort, Ill., Dottie McDonald, Braxton, Miss.; sisters, Annie Lou Hankins, Brandon, Miss., Polly Crane, Braxton; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gentry-Morrison Northside Funeral Chapel.
