DORAN Ora Mae Jackson-Doran, age 74, of Virginia, formerly of Bridgeport died Thursday, April 8, 2004 at County Hospital, South Boston, Va. Born in Providence, R.I. Ora had been a resident of Bridgeport for more than 50 years prior to moving to Virginia 12 years ago. She was a retired inspector with the Lacey Mfg. Co. A son Melvin Smith; and brother, Oling Jackson, Jr. predeceased her. Survivors include five sons, James Doran and Elijah Edmonds of Bridgeport, Willie Daly of Naugatuck, Richard (his wife Janet) Doran of New Hampshire, and Theodore Doran of New York; seven daughters, Loretta and Tanya Edmonds of Bridgeport, Cynthia Hicks of East Haven, Wanda Simmons and Tshmona Cooper of New Haven, Pamela Davis and Lori Belton of Virginia; two brothers, William Jackson, Jr. of Bridgeport and Milton Jackson of New Haven; two sisters, Patricia Ross and Ilene Jackson of New Haven; her beloved companion of over 45 years, Elijah Edmonds; four stepsons, Bobby and Samuel Edmonds of Varginia, Steven and Lavar Edmonds of Bridgeport; a stepdaughter, Barbara Edmonds of Varginia; 26 grandchildren; and one great-grandson; a host of nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Calvary Temple Christian Center, 301 Barnum Avenue, Bridgeport, with Bishop Elect John Thompson, Pastor, officiating. Interment will take place Thursday at 9 a.m. in Lakeview Cemetery. Viewing will take place Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. Morton's Mortuary, Inc., 25 Margaret E. Morton Lane, Bridgeport, is in charge of arrangements.
