GREENSBORO Opal Key Johnson, age 93, of Greensboro, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at Moundville Health & Rehabilitation. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel with Pastor Stephen Moore and Pastor Ken Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin D. Johnson; three daughters, Dannie, Opaline, and Marvine Johnson; her father, J.W. Key; her mother, Nettie Phillips Key Drummond; her stepfather, Alf Drummond; three brothers, Leon Key, J.W. Key, Jr., and J.L. Drummond; and one sister, Drusilla Barrett.Survivors include one daughter, Bertha Mae Colburn (Robert, Jr.) of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Carnell Colburn (Melissa) of Cottondale, Angela Warner (Jim) of Union City, Tenn., and Traci Montz (Darryl) of Greensboro; eight great-grandchildren, Kristopher Colburn (Kristi), Daniel Colburn, Nadiea Todd (Chris), Kimberly Carmichael (Casey), Jennifer Lancaster, Brandon Montz, Tabitha Montz, and Kelli Montz; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Edsel Drummond (Barbara) of Curry; one sister, Doris Dickerson (Ershel) of Arley; and many beloved nieces and nephews.Mrs. Johnson was born in Winston County in 1916. She was a resident of Greensboro for 70 years and will be remembered as a strong, special, hardworking, Christian lady who loved her family and believed that "there's some good in everybody".Pallbearers will be Kristopher Colburn, Chris Todd, Brandon Montz, Darryl Montz, Butch Key, Ed Key, and Daniel Colburn.Honorary pallbearers are the staff and management of Moundville Health & Rehabilitation, Dr. Larry Skelton and staff, Billy Ryan, nieces and nephews, and her many friends and neighbors in Greensboro.
