JOHNSON, Olga (Glossop) nee: Sytnik July 18, 1909 - January 11, 2009 On Sunday, January 11, 2009, Olga Johnson passed away peacefully during her afternoon nap. She was in her 100th year, which surprised even her. She frequently said she never thought she would live so long. Olga will be forever loved and remembered by her five children: Cleone, Vera, Edward, Bertha, Honore and their spouses: Buck Ratcliffe (deceased), Tom Sankoff, Lorraine Glossop, Bill Pisarchuk, Leslie Dahlberg (deceased) and Wally West (deceased); her grandchildren: Kim, Josh, Jennifer, Kyt, Carmen, Richard, Landon, Michael and Jamon; her great-grandchildren: Annika, Sasha, Logan, Theo, Nicholas, Michelle and many other family members in Alberta, Ontario, British Columbia and Hawaii. Olga was predeceased by her first husband, Francis (d. 1967) and second husband, Stanley (d. 1990), who was also godfather to Cleone and Honore. Olga lived the previous eight years at Venta Care Centre. The last five months she resided at the Edmonton General Hospital Continuing Care unit 7Y13, receiving the best care from Manager, Diane Perkins and staff, where she passed away, and we reluctantly let her go. Her interests include horses, piano, cooking and travel, but these things pale in comparison to the best role she was known for; which was being an excellent mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. 0n Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Howard & McBride Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home, 10179-108 Street, Edmonton.
