OLA W. SMITH LAKE STATION, IN Ola W. Smith, age 80 of Lake Station, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Methodist Hospital, Southlake Campus. Ola was a Lake Station resident for 50 years and retired from U.S. Steel with 25 years of service. She was a member of the Hobart Assembly of God. Ola is survived by her daughters: Deborah Richardson and Diana Lynn (Steve) Cheek, both of Lake Station; five grandchildren: Jay (Missy) Wacasey, Amie (Brian) Ward, Millie Zipperer, Heather Richardson and Jonathan Wright; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Lee Smith; son-in-law, Kennard J. Richardson; and brother, Billy Grant White. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, IN with Rev. Ryan McDowell officiating.
