Norman-Lester Larson, born in 1927, spouse of Melba-D. Larson, son of Lester and Lucille-M, father of John L, Mary, Fla, Richard W, Asalee, Rebecca and Roger, died at 85 years old.
Norman Lester Larson, 85, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., went to be home with the Lord on April 22, 2013. He was born in Chicago, Ill., on Aug. 29, 1927, the son of Lester E. and Lucille M Larson of Attleboro Falls, Mass. His wife of 61 years, Melba D. Larson, was at his side during his lengthy illness until his peaceful transition.Mr. Larson was a Baptist by faith. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1959 from Seaman Guard to Naval Aviator, where he was a dual wing pilot, flying airships and fixed winged. He loved flying and continued to do so for many years after retiring from the Navy.Mr. Larson was an independent agent for Geico, for 40 years, where he earned GFR many years in a row and was given emeritus status upon retirement. He was also a Real Estate Broker, Gator Realty, a member and past president of the Board of Realtors.Mr. Larson served the community through many organizations, The Lions Club, where he was very active to give people sight, The Shriner's Club, because of his love for children; he was a Mason, a member of the Surf Chapter and Omega Lodge. He was a member of the Naval Airship Association. In 1996, he served as Honorary Commander of the 33rd fighter wing for all his support over 40 years to young airmen through Geico. Mr. Larson had many achievements but his greatest, according to him, was his family. He is survived by his wife, Melba; two sons, John L. Larson and wife, Mary Ellen, of Mary Esther, Fla., and Richard W. Larson and wife, Asalee, of Milton, Fla.; one daughter, Rebecca Gauthier and husband, Roger, of Fort Walton Beach; a sister, Lois Waite of Attleboro Falls; five grandchildren, Erin Terryn of Morongo Valley, Calif., Jessica Bourgeois, Milton, Fla., Joshua Gauthier, Ruther Glen, Va., Ryan Larson, Destin, Fla., and Shanna Weddle, Waldorf, Md.; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Mr. Larson loved to fly, scuba dive, fish and golf.
