BRYAN, NORMA RUTH EMS, 75, passed away peacefully, after a long illness, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Jewish Hospital with her family by her side. She was known as Meemaw, Nana and Grandma to friends and family. She loved being a homemaker, gardening, theater and spending time with her family. She was an avid U of L basketball fan, loved traveling and family vacations, especially romantic tours of Italy, and sitting on her deck with her husband during warm summer nights. She was a graduate of Presentation. She was an original member of Delta Dames women's Club for 60 years, several bridge clubs, St. Colombos lunch group, Southeast Christian Church and choir for over 25 years, a Kentucky Colonel, and was a past president of Kentuckiana Square Dance Association. She supported the arts and many charities. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Cora Ems. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Harry A. Bryan; sons, Mark Bryan (Anita) and David Bryan (Toni); daughters, Lisa Seitz (Rob) and Sandra Guarderas (Cesar); grandchildren, Alyssa, Andrew and Matthew Bryan, Michal and Megan Seitz and Bryan Guarderas. She was very courageous and determined through many illnesses with the thanks to many flowers, cards, prayers and support from many friends and family. A celebration of her life will be held noon Thursday at Southeast Christian Church, 920 Blankenbaker Pkwy., with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Highlands Community Ministries, Prison Ministries, and Wayside Christian Mission.
