Norma J. Alexanderof Newark ValleyNorma J. Alexander, 73, of Newark Valley, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert F. Alexander Jr.; daughters, Sheila Jean and Anne Marie; parents, Robert and Helen Austin; brother, Edward Austin. She is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Shirley and Gary Williams, Newark Valley, Ida J. Alexander, Newark Valley, Barbara and Tom Golden, Nancy and Fred Buchler, Sandra and Jim Scharnikow, all of Endicott; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Saundra Alexander, Endicott, Robert and Cindy Alexander, Newark Valley; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Roberta and Harley Sandy, Ariz.; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She was an employee by United Health Services for 25 years. She was a member of American Legion Post #1390 Ladies Auxiliary, Maine, N.Y., a member of Newark Valley Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Broome Salon #37 8/40, and Broome County American Legion Ladies auxiliary.Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 E. Main St., Endicott. The Rev. Arthur Penird will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the American Legion Post #1390, Maine, N.Y., or to the Newark Valley Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
