ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. -- Norma L. Davis, 79, of Rochester Hills, Mich., died peacefully Tuesday, March 20, 2007, losing the battle against congestive heart failure.Formerly of Manchester and Wilmington, Vt., and Keene, N.H., widow of Sidney B. Davis, she is survived by her son Dean of Miami Beach, Fla., her son Peter, his wife Jill and their children, Emma, and Caitlin of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. and her daughter, Susan Davis Burr of Jamestown, R.I., devoted sister of Josephine Libby of Union, N.H., and Gertrude Hoyt of Rochester, N.H., and cousin-in-law Marion Hodges of Keene. Mrs. Davis was born June 2, 1927, in Cranston, R.I. and was raised in Milton, N.H. She earned her teaching degree at Keene Teachers College and taught at Derry and Peterborough high schools in New Hampshire, and Manchester (Vt.) Elementary School. Mrs. Davis traveled with her husband Sidney, a forest ranger, to Washington, Oregon and Virginia, before returning to New England. She was a Girl Scout leader and worked at the Mount Snow and Cupola ski shops in West Dover, Vt. Mrs. Davis was active in the Keene State College Golden Circle Alumni association, living 12 cherished years at Willowbrook condominiums in Keene before moving last fall to Michigan to be nearer to her two granddaughters. She was loved by her friends and neighbors, and respected by her colleagues for her high standards and quick irreverent sense of humor.Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be held Saturday morning at 11 a.m., at COVEY & ALLEN FUNERAL HOME, 44 East Main St., Wilmington, Vt. Rev. Marcia Dorey of the Wilmington Congregational Church will conduct the service. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
