Nora Andrea Jenkins (nee Anderson), age 84, of Pitman, went home to be with the Lord on July 9, 2011. Nora is survived by her husband of 62 years, C. David Jenkins, children: Bill H. (Lisa), C. David Jr. (Liz), Andrea Marie (Steve) MacCorkle, grandchildren: Elaine (Keith) Davis, Kimberly MacCorkle, Rachel Jenkins and Karla Jenkins. She was predeceased by four brothers: Fritz, Raymond, Harry and Robert, three sisters: Anna, Ruth, Ethel and an infant sister, Anna, an infant daughter Andrea Marie and an infant granddaughter. Nora was born in 1927 in Upper Pittsgrove Township (near Elmer) to Andrew and Marie Anderson, who immigrated from Norway. She was the ninth of 9 children. Her father’s work took the family to the Panama Canal Zone in 1929, where Nora spent her childhood and graduated from Balboa High School in 1944. She then attended Bob Jones University. Her father retired in 1944, and the family moved back to South Jersey. Nora joined the Pitman Methodist Church where she was married to Dave, in 1949. She was very active in the church and taught Sunday School and served the church in many and varied ways. Nora was a homemaker and later also worked for B.F. Goodrich Chemical Co. in Pedricktown as a secretary to the Plant Manager, retiring in 1985. She was a volunteer for Contact Gloucester County Crisis Helpline for nearly 30 years where she was primarily a telephone worker, but also held various board and administrative positions. Nora was also a volunteer for the American Association for the Blind. The joy of Nora’s life was family, church and volunteer activities. She had a big heart and busy hands. She was always busy doing things for her family - knitting, sewing, cooking, baking...typing - and for her church. Nora had a very willing and helpful spirit. She was a beloved and devoted wife and mother, and she will be missed dearly by her family. Friends may call on Wednesday after 9:30am in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave., Pitman, NJ.
