Decatur<!--Decatur-->Funeral service for Nellie Speegle Smith, 88, of Decatur will be Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Walter Blackmon, Bro. Charles Stone and Bro. Joe Hoover officiating. Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith, who died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Riverside Senior Living, was born Dec. 29, 1920, in Morgan County to Charlie Wilson Speegle and Carrie Mae Halbrooks Speegle. She was a member of East Highland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey G. Smith; by a brother, Ralph Speegle, and his wife, Martha; one grandson, Patrick G. Smith; and one granddaughter, Shannon Smith. Survivors include one son, Gordon Smith, and his wife, Pat, of Decatur; one brother, Erskine Speegle, and his wife, Marie, of Hartselle; two sisters, Louise Vachule of Pasadena, Texas, and Martha Ann Couey and her husband, Alvin, of Hartselle; one granddaughter, Stacia Barcal, and her husband, Kelly, of Decatur; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan Cantrell, Hannah Barcal and Amber Barcal.Pallbearers will be Noah Webster, Alan Drinkard, Bill Smeiser, Randy Dewberry, Larry Long and Tom Kemp.
