Funeral for Nellie Lee Taylor, 79, of Town Creek was to be today, Nov. 24, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Sanderson and the Rev. Wallace Armstrong of Sanderson Chapel United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was to be in Providence Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday night from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. Mrs. Taylor died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born July 11, 1924, in Lawrence County to Roy Jeffreys and Ethel Hall Jeffreys. She was an Avon representative for 36 years and was a member of the elite President’s Club Society. She was a member of Sanderson Chapel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for years and held numerous church positions. She was active in local and district United Methodist Women’s organizations. She was a charter member of Lawrence County Cancer Survivors and active through the years in numerous other community organizations. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Taylor, to whom she was married for 56 years. Survivors include one son, Milton Taylor and wife Henrietta of Hatton; one daughter, Theresa Summers and husband William of Hatton; three grandsons, Bart Taylor, Scott Summers and Jeff Summers and wife Kasey, all of Hatton; one granddaughter, Monica Johnson and husband Brent of Florence; and two stepsisters, Mildred Smith and husband Paul of Decatur and Peggy Harrison and husband J.P. of Hatton.Pallbearers were to be Neil Hall, Bob Hall, Clay Carpenter, Steve Harrison, Aaron Smith and Edard Jeffreys Jr.
