Died on 12 September after a courageous fight with cancer. Born 21 July, 1921 in South Lambeth, London, England. Beloved wife for 61 years of Kenneth Vincent Smith; loving mother of Cheryl (Button), Labadie, Missouri, USA; proud grandmother of Jamie, Los Angeles and Gillian, Labadie who were constantly in her thoughts. She cherished many happy memories of her younger sister, Audrey (Dale) of Hobart, Tasmania and her niece Linda of Copthorne, Sussex, England. She regarded with respect, love and admiration her son-in-law James Button of Labadie who provided care to her through her passing. She had many friends in Manotick, Toronto and England and specially valued her fifteen years of volunteer service with the Miller's Oven where she had many special friends among both co-workers and customers. Special thanks to Doctors Kent and Hall and the many nurses and care workers from the V.O.N. who attended her when assistance was needed. There will not be a separate visitation. Funeral services will be held on 17 September at 11 a.m. at St. James Anglican Church, Bridge Street, Manotick, followed by a celebration of her life at the Royal Canadian Legion hall on Anne Street, Manotick. In lieu of flowers, tributes may be made to the "Miller's Oven Building Fund", or The Victorian Order of Nurses.
