Nancy Miller December 5, 2010 Nancy Miller, 94, passed away Sunday, December 5, at Loretto Nursing Home. Born August 22, 1916, in Syracuse, she was a graduate of Central High School and worked at the telephone company for several years. Along the years she had been an Avon lady, a crossing guard for the Syracuse Police Dept. at the Elmwood School area, she worked in the cosmetics dept. of Dey Brothers, and she was very active in local Republican politics and was one of the founding members of the Sentinel Republican Club. She loved attending her children's and grandchildren's plays and musicals and attending local theater, especially at Salt City Center, where she volunteered as an usher. Nancy was also a very active Episcopalian church woman, first at Trinity Episcopal Church and then at St. Mark the Evangelist Episcopal Church. She was a founding member of the church's Circle V women's organization. She was predeceased by her husbands, William F. Topp and Buell H. Miller; her daughter, Patricia M. (Topp) Virag; her brothers, Richard Rowland, Robert Porter and John Porter. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Topp Morrison of Syracuse; her sons, William (Holly) Topp of Skaneateles and Peter Topp of Mesa, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Linda M. Topp of Syracuse; "sister" Dorothy Middleton of Syracuse; son-in-law, John "Jack" Virag of Raleigh, NC; cousin, Ted Woodard of Florida; sister-in-law, Virginia Porter of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Christine (Gregory) Scott, Cathleen (Michael) Egan, Kerri (Kevin) Kowal, Daniel (Erin) Virag, Elizabeth (John) Keating, Stephen (Michelle) Morrison John (Dina) Virag, Sheila Virag (Chris Caffrey); 17 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved church family. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mark the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 1612 W. Genesee St., Syracuse. Interment: Oakwood Cemetery.
