Nancy Lea Dalton, 56, Republic (formerly of Clinton, MO) passed away Monday, August 4, 2008, in Springfield, Mo. She was born August 22, 1951, in Hannibal, Mo., to Vencil and Maxine Hill. She was baptized December 4, 1960, at First Baptist Church in Monroe City, Mo. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield, having received the Rite of Confirmation on July 22, 2008. She retired from Ozarks Technical College, where she was Program Coordinator and teacher for the EMT and Paramedic program. She taught for many years after serving as a paramedic in the field. She was well respected in the field of emergency medicine, and received the Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2006. Throughout her illness she came in contact with, and was cared for by many, of her former students. She was united in marriage to Ronald Allen Dalton on October 4, 1980, and he survives, of the home. She was preceded in death by her mother in 1974, and her father in 2003. She is survived also by her son, Spencer, of the home; four sisters of the Jefferson City area, Linda (Jim) Ortmeyer, Susan Hill, Patti Hill, and Melissa (Doug) Sommerer, and one sister of Republic, Joni (Dave) Sommerer; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2008, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield, with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Republic. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Meadors Funeral Home in Republic.
