Nancy B. Harris March 1, 1924 - May 19, 2014 Conway Nancy B. Harris, 90, died Monday, May 19, 2014 at Conway Medical Center. Nannie Bell (aka Nancy) Harris was born in Aqua, VA on March 1, 1924. She was the second of five children of Herbert Riley and Mary Jane Sorrell. She grew up in the Staunton and Waynesboro, VA area and graduated from Spottswood High School. She then went to work at Dupont. She enlisted in the USN Waves in 1945 (WWII Vet). In 1947 she met her husband, Alvis H. Harris and they were married in 1949. She was a Navy wife for 15 years. They retired to Fort Washington, MD where they lived for 40 years. She spent her last 7 years living in Myrtle Trace Community in Conway, SC where she had an active life and made many new cherished friends. She is survived by their 5 children, James A. Harris, Patricia Harris-Paxson, Philip Harris, Jayne Hileman and Margaret Harris-Verity, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
