Nettie Lee Guinyard White, 96, died on June 23, 2010 in DeLand, Florida. She was the daughter on the late Maggie Wise Guinyard and the late James Guinyard. Born in Ridge Spring, SC, she moved to DeLand, FL in 1926. After marrying her beloved husband, Wilmon White, she moved to Norwalk, CT in 1941, and returned to DeLand in 1997. Mrs. White attended DeLand Public Schools. Blessed with an extraordinary memory, she recited over 50 scriptures from 6 different books of the Bible to many churches in Connecticut as well as DeLand, FL. She was a member of the Greater Union First Baptist Church, and was devoted to the Adult Sunday School Class, member of the NAACP, affiliated with the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #120, and the Church Women United. Mrs. White is survived by one brother, Herbert Guinyard, Sr. of DeLand, FL; two nephews, John Ivey of Durham, NC and Herbert Guinyard, Jr. of California; two nieces, Gwendolyn Woods of Orlando, FL and Elnora Sutton of Deltona, FL; granddaughter, Cassandra of Washington, MD; and several great nieces and nephews; and a large extended family. Along with her belated husband and parents, she was predeceased by nine sisters and brothers. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 29, at the Greater Union First Baptist Church, 240 S. Clara Ave, DeLand, with a visitation from 12-1pm and the funeral service at 1pm, with Reverend Troy A. Bradley, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at DeLand Memorial Gardens.
