ALEXANDER, Mrs. Nellie Lee, 82, a resident of 2037 South Lincoln Terrace, died Saturday, December 29, 2001 after a lengthy illness. Born in Lowndes County, AL, she came to Montgomery, AL in 1939 when she married Johnnie Mack Alexander. They were married for 49 years until his death in 1989. Together they raised six children. She was affectionately called Mother Dear by her children. Her oldest son, Johnnie Mack Alexander, Jr., predeceased her in 1960. She is survived by sons, Jimmie L. Alexander, Edward Charles Alexander, Willie J. (Carolyn) Alexander, Billy L. Alexander, both of Houston, TX and only daughter, Mary Alice Alexander, Atlanta, GA; sister, Ethel Mae Russell; brother, Eugene Poole; grandchildren, Reginald Lamar Austin, Michael Owens, Immanuel L. Alexander, Jamia Alexander (Victor) Williams, Birmingham, AL, Tiffany Hope (James) Taft, Landover, MD, LeCory Harvest, Michael Sterling Alexander and Alexis Whitney Alexander; and great-grandchild, Jabari Nelson Alexander. Mrs. Alexander was a faithful member of Lilly Baptist Church since 1942 and a faithful member of Queen Henrietta Chapter #724 Order of Eastern Star where she served as secretary. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2002 at Lilly Baptist Church with Reverend Thomas E. Jordan officiating. Interment will be immediately after the services at Mt. Sinai, Lowndes County, AL with Phillips-Riley Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Alexander will lie-in-state at the church one hour prior to services.
