Muriel-Amanda McPhee, born in 1928, daughter of Arthur and Barbara, died on January 12, 2008. Please consult the obituary here:
McPHEE Muriel Amanda (McArthur) died peacefully at the Royal Columbian Hospital on January 12, 2008 with family at her side. She was born in New Westminster on March 9, 1928 and was the only child of Arthur and Barbara. She was predeceased in 2005 by Darcy, her loving and devoted husband of 58 years. They originally met in 1947 at the May Day Ball in the Royal City and soon became inseparable for the rest of their lives. Muriel is survived by her three loving children, Craig (June), Patsy (Greg) Hartigan, and Russell as well as three grandchildren Michelle (Dimitri), Jeff (Stacey), and Kim and two great-granddaughters, Carissa and Hailey. As a young woman, Muriel was a telephone operator for B.C. Tel and, while there she developed a long-term group friendship with many of ""the telephone girls"" that endured throughout her life. In the home, she was a gentle and energetic mother where her love and kindness for her family was unconditional. Muriel possessed a sweetness and supportiveness that touched all she knew. For many years, Muriel was a tireless canvasser for the Canadian Cancer Society where she often received praise for outstanding individual effort. Muriel will be deeply and sadly missed by her family and friends. We will always remember her warm smile and perky sense of humour, her quiet elegance, and an enduring thoughtfulness in everything she did. A Funeral Service will be held at Columbia-Bowell Chapel at 219 6th Street, New Westminster at 1:30 pm on Thursday, January 17, 2008. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in her name. Columbia-Bowell Chapel 604-521-4881
