Mrs. Sara Mulatu Jones, age 55, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday at 1:12 p.m., under the care of Odyssey Health Care. She was a native of Addis Ababa, of Ethiopia. She was a member of the Brannen Chapel United Methodist Church, serving as a communion stewardess until her health failed. She was employed with Georgia Southern Housing Department. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Alfred Jones of Statesboro, Ga.; two sons, Mr. Alfred Yans Jones Jr. and Mr. Kedonny D. Jones, both of Statesboro, Ga.; three sisters, Senayet Mulatu and Eleni Mulatu, both of Ethiopia, and Tsegereda Mulatu of Boston, Mass.; a brother, Sirake Mulatu (Amsale Chebude) of Boston, Mass.; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Brannen Chapel United Methodist Church, Elm Street, with Pastor Donald Mathis as eulogist. Interment will be held in Bulloch Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour. There will be no viewing after the eulogy. Family visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, in the chapel of Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel, in charge of service.
