SAVANNAH, Ga. - Mrs. Sandra Wiggins Smith died Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at her residence in Savannah. She was born in 1942 in Emanuel County, Ga. Her family moved to Statesboro during her childhood. She graduated from Statesboro High School in 1960. After graduation, she attended Georgia Southwestern College in Americus. Her work career began as a clerk with the City of Statesboro. She later moved to Savannah, where she recently retired from the medical field. Her hobbies and enjoyment was designing floral arrangements. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Laura J. Wiggins; a son, Robbie Smith; a sister, Juanita Coursey; and four brothers, Cardell Wiggins, Johnnie Wiggins, Odell Wiggins and James Wiggins. Survivors are one son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Candace Smith of Canton, Ga.; two granddaughters, Casley and Catherine Smith of Canton, Ga.; one sister, Jerlene Ranew of Griffin, Ga.; two brothers and their wives, Vernie and Mary Wiggins of Savannah and Robert and Anita Wiggins of Statesboro; three sisters-in-law, Virginia Wiggins of Gastonia, N.C., Polly Wiggins of Stockbridge, Ga., and Joyce Wiggins of Statesboro, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home. The funeral service will be a family graveside service held on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at 2 p.m. in Eastside Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
