Mrs. Ruby Lee Smith, age 82, died Saturday, September 27, 2008, at Ogeechee Area Hospice after a short illness. She was a native of Bulloch County and a member of Rehovia Missionary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Smith is survived by her loving and devoted four daughters, Ms. Pearline Hagins and Mrs. Gladys Campbell, both of Statesboro, Mrs. Ernestine Lester of Atlanta and Ms. Linda Faye Smith of Statesboro; four sons, Mr. James Smith of Plant City, Fla., Mr. Ernest Smith, Mr. Larry Smith and Mr. Jewel Smith, all of Statesboro; two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Jean Boatwright of Portal and Mrs. Betty Jean Jones of Miami, Fla.; two brothers, Mr. Wade Frank Reese of Portal and Mr. Thomas Reese of Statesboro; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 8:15-9:15 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2008, in the James R. Barnes Mortuary Chapel. The funeral service for Mrs. Ruby Lee Smith will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2008, at Rehovia Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. David Reese, officiating. Burial: church cemetery. Remains will lie instate from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour. James R. Barnes Mortuary, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
