Funeral service for Mrs. Mavis Price Johnson, age 81, 18 year Wedowee resident, formerly of Wadley and Conyers, Ga., will be held Sunday, January 31, 2010, at 2 p.m. from the Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Zenus Windsor and the Rev. Gordon Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Forrester Chapel Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. on today, January 30, 2010. Mrs. Johnson died Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Jane and John Yeackle, in Longwood, Fla. Her death followed a year long battle with cancer. Survivors include two sisters, Agnes Green, of Lithia Springs, Ga., Jane (husband John) Yeackle, of Longwood, Fla.; two brothers, Billie (wife Barbara) Price, Jimmy (wife Delores) Price; many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Gary Price, Steve Calhoun, Scott Sullivan, Matthew Yeackle, Richard Craft and Joe Wilkerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Luther Carter, Howard Hale, Johnny Hodges and J.L. Wallace. Mrs. Johnson was born, July 4, 1928, the daughter of Guy and Mae Burrow Price. She was co-owner with her husband of the Western Auto in Conyers, Ga. and had worked in accounting for Southern Bell. Her favorite activities included traveling in their motor home, antique car shows and gardening, and yard work. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Vennon Johnson and her parents.
