MATTESON, IL - Funeral services for Lillian Marie Cross Jackson, 69, will be Saturday, Feb. 20, at 1 p.m. at Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Matthew Leonard and the Rev. Craig Draper officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Church Cemetery, Talladega. Mrs. Jackson died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Advocate South Suburban Hospital, Hazel Crest, Ill. She was a 1958 graduate of Talladega County Training High School and a 1962 graduate of Talladega College with a major in social work. She moved to Chicago, Ill., where she lived the rest of her life and enjoyed a 30 year career with the Illinois Department of Social Services until her retirement in 1997. In 1973 she was married to Mr. Willie Jackson of Chicago. She enjoyed traveling, hanging with family, card-playing, bowling and being an avid event planner of family reunions, get-togethers, casino trips, fund raisers, and just plain having fun. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillie Cross; and her older brother, Bobby Cross and his wife, Annie Pearl. Survivors are a brother, James S. Cross (Brenda) of Matteson, Ill.; sister, Carolyn Draper of Chicago, Ill.; uncle, Frank Milton Draper (Laverne) of Chicago, Ill.; aunts, Helen Draper of Chicago, Bertha Draper and Lillie Mae Draper of Detroit, and Mattie Draper of Talladega; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the services.
