STATESBORO, Ga. - Mrs. Barbara Jean Peavy Phillips, age 69, died Sunday at her residence. The Screven County native traveled with her husband throughout his military career, retiring to Bulloch County in 1979. She was a homemaker and a member of the Clito Baptist Church. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Phillips; and her parents, Edward Kinchley and Esther Beasley Phillips. Surviving are a son, Ricky Phillips of Statesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Mike Hendrix of Statesboro; four grandchildren, Adam Phillips, Samantha Phillips and Alan Hendrix, all of Statesboro, and Missy Hendrix of Pooler; a great-grandchild, Aiden Thompson of Statesboro; two sisters, Elizabeth (Cubby) Sydow of Sylvania and Ella (Marcus) Hodges of Oliver; and three sisters-in-law, Eloise Phillips and Earnestine Peavy, both of Statesboro, and Margaret Peavy of Portland, Ore. Also surviving are her precious dog, "Betsy"; and her cat, "Kitty". Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Zellner officiating. Interment will be in the Clito Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Phillips, Alan Hendrix, Lawrence Blackburn Jr., Brian Sydow, Ray Phillips and Ronnie Phillips. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Clito Baptist Church Building Fund, 10062 Clito Road, Statesboro, Ga. 30461.
