Obituary of Mrs. -Bessie-Mae Carter

TALLADEGA - Funeral service for Mrs. Bessie Mae Elston Carter will be Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 1 p.m. at Westview Funeral Home Chapel "Elizabeth Oden Lawler Memorial Chapter" with the Rev. John L. Ragland officiating. Burial will be in Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Carter died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Citizens Baptist Medical Center in Talladega. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Carter Sr., and one son, Jimmy Elston. She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy (John) Suttle, Mary (Lee Curtis) Curry and Melody (Henry) Taylor, all of Talladega; three sons, Ollie Carter Jr., Leotis Carter and Lajuan (Kathleen) Carter all of Talladega; one brother, Jacob Kirksey of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Georgia Bradford of Lincoln and Mary Frances Jacob of Eastaboga; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one uncle, Frank Elston of Talladega; and two special friends, Bobbie Twyman and Rosemary President. Visitation will be Monday from 2 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Westview Funeral Home will direct the service.
