Mrs. -Arminda-Lee Ellison, born in 1930, spouse of Charles-Herbert Ellison, daughter of Chandos and Luella, mother of Gregory Herbert, Randal Hugh, Deneise, Michael and Rhonda, died on February 2, 2008 at 77 years old.
STATESBORO - Mrs. Arminda Lee Burnsed Ellison, age 77, died Saturday, February 2, 2008, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. Born on October 4th, 1930, she was a native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County. She graduated from Nevils High School in 1947. After attending Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College in Tifton, Ga., she received a degree in elementary education with a major in home economics at Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Ga. She began her teaching career at Sardis-Girard-Alexander High School. She later taught for many years at Nevils Elementary School in Nevils, where she touched the lives of many young students. Above and beyond, she enjoyed her family and was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and aunt. She was a member of Nevils United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chandos and Luella Burnsed; a sister, Levita Burnsed Ellington; and a son-in-law, Billy G. Morgan. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Charles Herbert Ellison of Nevils; two sons, Gregory Herbert Ellison of Pembroke and Randal Hugh Ellison of Statesboro; two daughters and a son-in-law, Deneise and Michael Coleman of Baxley and Rhonda Morgan of Brooklet; one granddaughter, Mindy Lu Morgan; a grandson, Randal Hugh Ellison Jr.; a brother, Alwyne "Al" Burnsed, Garden City; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Nevils United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Hudson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will lie-in-state at the church one hour prior to the service with closed casket. Pallbearers will be Kurt C. Bacon, Chris Chester, Noel Burnsed, Deal Shuman, David Shuman and Scott Shuman. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the 1947 Graduating Class of Nevils High School. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Savannah, 3025 Bull Street, Savannah, Ga. 31401; or Nevils United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 2328 Anderson Road, Statesboro, Ga. 30458.
