STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Angie Diane Jenkins Smith, age 44, died Tuesday, September 30, 2014, following a sudden illness. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a 1988 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School. Angie worked for Claxton Poultry, Nash Finch Company and Southeast Bulloch High School for several years. She was employed the past six years as a monitor technician at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro and also employed as an EMT with Bulloch County EMS.While working full time, Angie pursued her desire to become an EMT and paramedic. She attended Darton University and recently graduated from the EMT program of Ogeechee Technical College as an avanced EMT. She was currently enrolled in paramedic and rescue training school in Savannah. Angie additionally served on the advisory board of OTC.She was a member of Emit Grove Baptist Church.Surviving are her husband, Shane Smith of Statesboro; a son, Hunter Smith of Statesboro; a daughter, Courtney Haire of Bloomingdale; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dave and Karla Howell of Houston, Texas, and Michael Wiggins of Utah; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bonnie and Mike Blythe of Leefield; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George and Robin Moye of Statesboro, Tony and Patti Smith of Ellabell, Bobby and Brandee Blythe of Statesboro, Tony and Kelly Pye of Statesboro and John and Jo Alice (Bit) Conner of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews and her family of EGRMC and Bulloch EMS.Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Emit Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Huffingham officiating.The body will lie in sate one hour prior to the service.Interment will be in the church cemetery.Pallbearers will be members of Bulloch County EMS.Honorary pallbearers will be Bulloch County EMS, her classmates of OTC EMT program and her classmates of her paramedic class.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the EMS program of Ogeechee Technical College, OTC Foundation, P.O.
