Sylacauga, AL - Funeral service for William Franklin "Frank" Horton, 87, will be October 3, 2011 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Sylacauga with Rev. Keith Pugh and Rev. Ryan Akers officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL with military honors.Mr. Horton died Friday, September 30, 2011 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Jean Liveoak Horton. He was honorably discharged from the US Army after serving in World War II in the European Theatre where he was awarded a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and four Arrowheads while serving at Normandy during D Day, Operation Market Garden, the Battle of the Bulge and the Central Europe Campaign.He is survived by his daughters, Carol Sprayberry, husband Steve, of Sylacauga and Jill McCarter, husband David, of Sylacauga; granddaughter, Kelly Akers, husband Ryan, of Birmingham; grandsons, Steven Sprayberry, wife Kimmie, of Birmingham and Wes McCarter of Sylacauga; 3 great-grandsons, Rown Jackson Akers, Hudson Taylor Akers and Steven Isaac Sprayberry; great-granddaughter, Savannah Dell Sprayberry; brother, John Lester Horton of Sylacauga; and caregivers, Vanessa Garrett, Rosetta Leselay and Martha Dozier. Visitation will be Sunday October 2, 2011 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.Mr. Horton's family will accept flowers or donations to ChristPoint Community Chruch; 112 N Anniston Ave; Sylacauga, AL 35150 or First Baptist Church of Sylacauga; 10 S Broadway Ave; Sylacauga, AL 35150.Pallbearers will be Steve Sprayberry, David McCarter, Steven Sprayberry, Wes McCarter, John Horton and Jerry Walker.
