Mr. Michael David Martin, age 41, of Cumming passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008. Mike was born Aug. 22, 1967. He attended Berkmar High School and graduated in 1985. Mike received a B.S. in business administration from Coker College in 1989 and was also a member of the basketball team. He received his master's degree in special education from North Georgia College in 1996. Mike also received his Educational Leadership Certification from UGA. He was employed with the Forsyth County Board of Education and held many positions from teacher, coach, assistant principal and also administration with North Forsyth High School. In July 2008, he assumed the position of assistant director of school safety with the Forsyth County Board of Education. Mike was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cumming and a member of the Abundance S.S. class. Survivors include his wife, Kristin Kohn Martin of Cumming; sons, Kohnor Michael Martin and Kooper David Martin of Cumming; mother, JoAnn Buice Martin of Cumming; father and stepmother, Benny and Marigail Martin of Sugar Hill; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff and Barbara Martin of Lawrenceville, Phil Martin of Lilburn, Andy and Corey Martin of Cumming; grandmother, Opal Grizzle Buice of Lilburn; stepsister and brother-in-law, Beth and Guy Selinka; stepsister, Tina Riley; fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law, Larry and JoAnn Kohn of Cumming, Paula and Robert Hughes of Cumming; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kelley and Sam Story, Michelle and Chris Leak, Melanie and Matt Martin, Chris and Jill Hughes, Carla and Mike Gravitt and Jessica and Chris Cheatham all of Cumming; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 2, at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cumming with Dr. Bob Jolly and the Rev. Danny Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Coal Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 4-9 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 2, from 11 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kohnor and Kooper Martin Education Fund, Forsyth Community Bank, 1700 Market Place Blvd., Cumming, GA 30041, Attn: Sam Story. Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
