Mr. -Clifford-Harry Watson, born in 1924, spouse of Rebecca Watson, son of Clifford and Allison, father of David, Steve, Sandy, Joanie and Mary, died on June 17, 2010 at 85 years old.
Clifford Harry Watson, 85, passed away, after a short illness, on Thursday, June 17, 2010, in Port Charlotte, FL. Cliff was born on October 27, 1924, in Bryn Mawr, PA, the son of Clifford and Allison Watson. After High School, he married his sweetheart Rebecca, before enlisting in the Army Air Corps. He served in Guam as a gunner on a B29 crew, which flew many missions over Japan. He flew in the last mission of the war. In 1969 he and the family moved to Safety Harbor, FL. He worked for many years as a commercial landscape manager for Aumann Inc., mostly at Tampa International Airport. With their children grown and gone, he and Becky moved to Inverness, Fl, which became a home they loved. After joining Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, he became the Sacristan, a position he held for 18 years. His church family and his service to the church was one of the most meaningful times of his life. In 2009, after his retirement he was awarded the St. Jude medal by the Bishop, an award he cherished. Cliff's devotion to God, his family and his church made him a special man who will be missed by many.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rebecca, in 2000. He is survived by 5 children, sons David Watson (Ellen), Steve Watson (Lina), daughters Sandy Watson, Joanie Aumann (Roger), Mary Kranz (Mike); 11 grandchildren, Lisa, Michelle, David, Mary Ellen, Greg, Ryan, Allison, Stephen, Michael, Tyler and Haley; and 8 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Kaley, Michael, Heather, Allison, Jacob, Grace and Ellie.Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at 10:00 am. Father James Johnson will preside.
