CHILDERSBURG - Graveside service for Bobby Joe (Short) Stewart, 77, will be Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m. at Greenhill Cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Forbus officiating. Mr. Stewart died Aug. 2, 2009 in Childersburg. Short attended B.B. Comer High School. He worked several odd jobs before joining the U.S. Marines where he earned a sharp shooter's award during basic training. He enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. What he loved the most was being with his best buddy, Alex. He never missed any of Alex's activities. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. P.D. Stewart; brothers, Malcolm Stewart of Sylacauga and Shady Stewart of Sylacauga; sister, Marie Hay of Wedowee; granddaughters, Angeliquie Stewart of Colorado and Ashley Tyler of Anniston. Survivors are his wife, Brenda Stewart of Childersburg; sons, Richard Scoggins of Oxford, FL, and Brian Stewart (Wendy) of Childersburg; daughters, Debbie Shaner of Sylacauga, Brenda Gail Stewart (Tony Pena) of Lanette, Pamela Pruitt of Sylacauga, Alyson Blanchard (Lance) of Sylacauga, Melissa Blunier (Jeff) of Dowagiac, MI, Nancy Bright of Childersburg; 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Sammy Butler, Rusty Brown, John Penrod, Jerry Agostinello, Marty Conn, Tony Hamm. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Podoris, Rick Keabler, Joe Conlon, Tommy Wyers, Rodney Shiflett, Danny Shiflett. Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg Chapel will direct the service.
