ROANOKE — Funeral services for Miss. Nellie Jean "Monk" Smith, of Roanoke, age, 61, will be at Monday, September 14, 2009, at 2p.m. from the Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with The Rev. Bruce Daviston officiating. Burial to follow in the Bethel East Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Miss. Smith died Sunday, September 13, 2009 at her home. Survivors include one sister, Patsy Smith of Roanoke; one sister-n-law, Ester Smith of Roanoke; nine nieces and seven nephews; special friends, Oscar Blackmon, Brittany and Camden Blackmon. Pallbearers will be Johnny Davidson, Terry Davidson, Oscar Blackmon, Daniel Bozeman, Jason Vinson, Thomas Boggs and Jason Exum. Miss. Smith was born January 25, 1948, the daughter of Earnest and Mary Etta Craft Smith. She was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church and had worked in childcare. Miss. Smith was preceded in death by her parents. Flowers will be accepted or donations to the funeral expenses.
