Hall, Minnie (Smith) ALBANY, N.Y. Mrs. Minnie Smith Hall died at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center, Albany on May 1, 2007 from Parkinson's disease. She was born on May 12, 1915 in Lexington, Ky., to the Reverend Thomas Horace Smith, D.D., and Mrs. Helen Ray Smith. She was married to Robert Lewis Hall for 44 years, prior to his death in 1989. They are survived by one child, Roberta Thomasia Hall-Slade; a granddaughter, Minitria Elisabeth Slade; a son-in-law, Dr. Leonard A. Slade Jr. The deceased is survived by four brothers, Mr. William H. Smith and the Reverends G.M. Smith, Horace R. Smith and Charles H. Smith; and one sister, Mrs. Kathryn Smith Stephens. She was predeceased by siblings, Dr. John T. Smith, Ms. Mossie Smith and Mrs. Mary Smith Simpson Matthews. Numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws survive. Mrs. Hall received her early training in the public schools of Georgetown, Ky., and completed Kentucky State University with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education in 1937. She entered the graduate program in speech pathology and audiology at Indiana University the following September. For 18 of her 20 years as a teacher in the Lexington School System, she worked as a certified speech pathologist. Mrs. Hall was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church and a lifetime member and past officer of the Baptist Women's Education Convention of Kentucky. As a resident of Daughters of Sarah, Mrs. Hall became an activist for senior rights and served terms as president and vice president of the resident's council. Funeral services will be held at the Pilgrim Baptist Church in Lexington. Burial will follow in Cove Haven Cemetery.
