Obituary of Minnie-Alma-Fife Dennis


Minnie Alma Fife Dennis, long-time Quay County resident, passed away Friday, February 19, 2010, at the age of 87. Minnie was born August 12, 1922, in Tucumcari, NM. She and her family moved to the Norton community in 1929. She married Loyd Dennis in 1945 when he returned home from the war. She loved the land and its animals, especially the springtime which brought the new born calves.To those who knew her best, she was "Buds"- known for her cooking, admired for her craftsmanship, and loved for her compassion and kind heart.She is preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Dennis; her parents, J.W. and Minnie Fife; two brothers, Guy William Fife and John Robert Fife.Surviving Minnie is her sister, Maxine Newby of Tucumcari; nephew, Nick LeCompte and his wife, Laura of Tucumcari; niece, Billye Legion and her husband, Mike of Dalhart; numerous other nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 27th, at the Tucumcari Convention Center beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the H Bascom Room.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home, 1356 New Mexico 236, Portales, NM 88130-9411.Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79101.
