Miles David Martin, age 81, of Dunnellon, Florida, passed away December 31, 2009, at the Hospice House in Lecanto, FL. Born on May 2, 1928, in Nitro, WV, to Robert S. and Mary Elizabeth (Bird) Martin, he moved here 21 years ago from Akron, OH. He retired on July 1, 1989, after 43 years of service from Firestone Tire as a Supervisor. Mr. Martin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Rousseau. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha J. Martin of Dunnellon, FL.; three daughters, Nancy J. and her husband Mike Goguen of Albany, NY, Becky and her husband Ken Slonaker of Akron, OH, and Cathy and her husband Fred Hyatt of Munroe Falls, OH; three sisters, Martha Esman of Oakland, MD, Harriet Grady of Gahanna, OH, and Joan Browning of Nokomis, FL; one son, John Martin of Nitro, WV; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Ryan, Randall S. Slonaker, Rachael Goguen, Steven Hyatt, Robyn Rohr, Ruth McFarland and Kevin Hyatt; fourteen and one half great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends today, Friday, January 1, 2010, from 1 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Lecanto, FL; Pastor Joe Schroder officiating. Burial will be in Ohio.
