Mildred McEwen Wood, age 94, of Niceville, Fla., passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008. She was born on June 6, 1913, in McComb, Miss., to Dudley and Sara McEwen. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Niceville. Mrs. Wood retired from Regions Bank (formerly Mechanic State Bank). Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents; hus-band, Glenn Wood; son, Dudley Spence; sons-in-law, Julian Scott and Glen Wood, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Dale Warnock; sisters, Lucille Hill, Marie McEwen, Francis Hall and Evelyn Davis; brother, Dudley "Son" McEwen; and grandson, David Wood. Survivors include her daughter, Bettye Scott; daughters-in-law, Betty Spence and Joyce Wood; grandchildren, Corey Scott and Kelly Scott, both of Houston, Jill Kendall of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Craig, Bill and Brad Spence and Laura Edwards, all of Tampa, Fla., Susan Bostwick of Madison, Miss., Laura Wood of Juno, Alaska, and Kelly Wood of McComb. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at First Baptist Church of Niceville. A time of visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florida Baptist Children's Home, 1000 Chemstrand Road, Cantonment, FL 32533.
