Somerville<!--Somerville-->Memorial service for Mildred Faye Johnson, 84, of Somerville will be today, Nov. 12, 2007, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church on Austinville Road in Decatur with the Rev. Jimmy Smith and the Rev. Martin Steelman officiating and Twickenham directing. Mrs. Johnson died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at Parkway Medical Center. She was a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church in Somerville. She retired from St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac, Mich., after serving as a Nursing Tech for 34 years. She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, CW Coen; one brother, Sidney Mills; five sisters, Polly McGhee, Louise Mabrey, Inez Slayton, Edith Stephenson and Evelyn Alexander. She is survived by her husband, Laverne Johnson; one son, Sherman Lemmond and wife, Marvinell; two daughters, Elizabeth Lowe and husband, Charlie, and Janet Sue Smith and husband, Gary; three granddaughters, Teri Taylor, Pamela Lemmond, Dee Gautney and husband, Steve; three grandsons, Jerry Lemmond, Jeffery Lowe, and Steve Lemmond; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.
